Calmer Mealtimes for Picky & Anxious Eaters

Mealtime doesn't have to be a battleground.

A personalized audio journey — like a bedtime story crossed with a coach — that helps your child feel calm, curious, and brave around food, built around their own fears, favorite characters, and safe-food list.

Wellness support, not medical or psychological care. Cancel anytime.

Sound familiar?

You're not imagining it.

  • Every meal turns into tears, bargaining, or a full-blown standoff — for you and for them.
  • Your child eats the same 5-6 foods and panics or gags at anything new on the plate.
  • You suspect it's more than 'picky' — maybe a texture thing, maybe fear since that time they choked or threw up — but you're not sure what to call it or where to start.
  • You've tried bribing, hiding vegetables, the 'one bite rule,' and reward charts, and mealtimes are still stressful for everyone.
  • You're worried about their growth, nutrition, or what happens at school lunch and birthday parties, and you feel like you're failing even though you're doing everything you can think of.

How it works

A few quiet steps.

01

Answer a short set of caring questions about your child's safe foods, specific fears (texture, smell, choking, vomiting), and mealtime patterns (takes about 5-7 minutes).

02

We build a short, calming audio session personalized to your child — their own safe foods, favorite characters, and fears reframed with age-appropriate imagery, never pressure.

03

Play it well before a meal (not at the table) as a calm-building ritual, separate from any actual eating expectation.

04

A short series builds gradually — from feeling calm and curious in general, to gentle, playful 'food detective' imagery — always at the child's own pace, never rushing toward a bite.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Is this a substitute for medical or feeding therapy care?

No. Mindmosis is a relaxation and curiosity-building tool, not a diagnosis, treatment, or substitute for a pediatrician, registered dietitian, feeding therapist (SLP/OT), or mental health clinician. If your child is losing weight, has fallen off their growth curve, or you're worried about nutrition or safety, please see your pediatrician first — this can be a calming complement alongside that care, not instead of it.

What's the difference between 'picky eating' and something like ARFID?

Ordinary picky eating is common and usually doesn't affect growth, nutrition, or daily life much. When food avoidance is severe, long-lasting, and starts affecting weight, growth, nutrition, or the family's ability to function (school, social events, mealtimes), it may be Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) — a recognized feeding and eating condition best assessed by a pediatrician or feeding specialist. Our intake asks questions designed to help flag when that's worth checking on, but it isn't a diagnostic tool.

My child is scared of choking or throwing up, not just 'picky.' Does this still apply?

We ask about this specifically, because fear of choking or vomiting after a scary incident is a different pattern than sensory pickiness and benefits from a different, gentler approach — one focused on calm and safety rather than any food exposure at all. If that's what's going on, we'll steer sessions that way and may recommend a specialist who treats swallowing-specific phobias.

Will this make my child eat new foods?

That's not the promise we make, and we'd be lying if we said otherwise. These sessions build the calm, curiosity, and body-safety feelings that make it easier for a child to eventually explore new foods on their own timeline — often alongside things like food chaining or feeding therapy. We never pressure a child toward eating, tasting, or 'finishing their plate' in the audio itself.

Is hypnosis or guided imagery safe for a child with a feeding issue?

These are guided relaxation and imagery sessions — think calming story time with a purpose, not clinical trance work. We use only gentle, permissive language, avoid any shame-based or pressure-based phrasing, and never mention weight, calories, or body size to the child.

What if my child is already in feeding therapy or seeing a specialist?

Wonderful — tell us in the intake. We'll design sessions to complement that care (calm-building, not new exposure steps) rather than duplicate or conflict with what a professional is already doing with your child.
