ARFID Support for Teens & Adults

ARFID is not picky eating. You already know that.

A short, respectful intake — then a personalized guided audio session built around your actual presentation: sensory sensitivity, low interest and appetite, or fear of choking and vomiting. Built for adults and teens who eat a narrow list of foods and are tired of being told to just try it.

Wellness support, not medical or psychological care. Cancel anytime.

Sound familiar?

You're not imagining it.

  • Every article you find is written for parents of a five-year-old, and every app assumes you need to be talked into vegetables.
  • You have a real, specific list of foods you can eat, and the panic that comes with anything outside it is nothing like preference.
  • Work lunches, dates, weddings, travel, and hospital stays are logistical problems you plan around, and the planning is exhausting.
  • People who love you call it picky, and it lands as an accusation that you are being difficult on purpose.
  • You are already in therapy or on a waitlist and want something for the anxiety spike in between sessions, not another program telling you what to eat.

How it works

A few quiet steps.

01

Answer an adaptive set of adult-to-adult questions about which ARFID presentation fits you, your safe-food list, your history, and what you actually want to be different (about 6-9 minutes).

02

We build a personal formulation — your dominant presentation, your specific fear or sensory profile, the situations that cost you most, and where you are in any existing care.

03

You get a guided audio session using the technique matched to your presentation, built around your own words, your own safe foods, and the step you have chosen for yourself.

04

A 4-part arc moves from lowering baseline anxiety around eating, to a portable in-the-moment calming tool, to mental rehearsal of your own next step, to the social and identity side of living with ARFID as an adult.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Is this treatment for ARFID?

No. ARFID is a recognized eating disorder, and treatment for it means evidence-based care — CBT-AR, family-based treatment for younger teens, feeding therapy, dietitian support, and medical monitoring where indicated. This is a relaxation and guided-imagery tool for the anxiety that surrounds eating. It can sit alongside that care. It cannot replace it, and we will not pretend otherwise.

How is this different from your picky-eating pack?

Completely different pack, different audience, different tone. That one is written for parents of children. This one is written to you, as an adult or older teen, about a serious feeding and eating disorder — no cartoon characters, no bravery charts, no reward framing, and the word picky does not appear in your sessions.

Will this make me eat new foods?

No, and any tool that promises that is selling you something. Guided audio can lower the anticipatory dread that makes any exposure step harder, and it can rehearse a step you have already decided on. The step itself is yours, and adding foods to a restricted diet is work that belongs with a clinician who can monitor your nutrition while you do it.

I have never been formally diagnosed. Can I still use this?

Yes. Many adults with ARFID go undiagnosed for decades, often having been told they were fussy children who never grew out of it. You do not need a diagnosis to want less anxiety around eating. Our intake does ask questions that may help you decide whether a formal assessment is worth pursuing, but it is not an assessment itself.

What if my eating is affecting my weight or my health?

Then medical care comes first, not audio. Significant weight loss, fainting, a doctor raising concerns about your nutrition or bloodwork, or dependence on nutritional supplements to get through the day are all reasons to be seen before using a relaxation tool as your main support. We ask about this directly in intake and will say so plainly if it comes up.

I am autistic or have ADHD. Does that change anything?

It is worth telling us, because it changes how we build sessions. ARFID co-occurs with autism and ADHD often enough that it is closer to the rule than the exception in adult samples. If sensory sensitivity is central for you we keep imagery concrete and literal rather than open-ended and metaphorical, and we do not treat sensory difference as something to be talked out of.

My avoidance started after I choked or was violently sick. Is this the right pack?

Yes, that is one of the three recognized ARFID presentations, and we ask about it specifically. If it fits you, we keep sessions entirely food-neutral — nervous-system calm and a portable anchor only, with no food imagery at all — because gentle food content can reinforce a danger association rather than soften it. If you have ongoing difficulty physically swallowing, that needs a medical swallow evaluation before anything else.

How long are sessions and how often should I listen?

Sessions default to about 12 minutes. Most people do best listening in a calm window well away from a meal, so the response is rehearsed before it is needed, rather than trying to use it mid-panic on the first attempt.

Ready to begin?

Personalized guided audio for adults and teens living with ARFID — calm around food, lower anticipatory anxiety, and mental rehearsal of the step you have already chosen. A complement to CBT-AR or feeding therapy, never a replacement for it.
